Itinerary
The flight to Paro offers breathtaking mountain views. Our Bhutan Travel Bureau representative will greet you at Paro airport. After lunch, explore Paro, visiting the Ta Dzong Museum and Rimpong Dzong. Drive to Thimphu (1.5 hours) for an orientation on Bhutanese etiquette. Overnight in Thimphu.
Explore Thimphu, visiting the National Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Temple, Drubthob Monastery, and other sites. Discover Bhutanese art at the School for Arts and Crafts, the National Library, and the Traditional Paper Factory. If time permits, visit the Takin Preserve and Tashichhodzong. Overnight in Thimphu.
Drive from Thimphu to Trongsa (7-8 hrs) via Dochu-La pass and Pele La pass. Enroute visit Chendebji Chorten. Explore Trongsa, the ancestral home of Bhutan’s ruling dynasty. Overnight in Trongsa.
Visit Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong museum. Proceed to Bumthang (2.5 hrs), the spiritual heart of Bhutan. Explore Jakar Dzong and Tamshing Lhakhang. Overnight in Bumthang.
Begin a 14 km, 3 to 4 hours trek along the Chamkhar Chu. Pass villages and temples, ending at a farmhouse. Overnight at Farm House. Altitude 2900m.
Trek 19 km, 7 to 8 hours, ascending to Phephe La Pass. Descend to Tang valley, reaching Ugyencholing village. Camp overnight by the river. Altitude 2670m.
Walk to Tang Ugyencholing Palace and visit Mebartso (The Lake of Fire). Return to Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.
Depart for Punakha, the ancient capital. Stroll through Punakha township. Overnight in Punakha.
Visit Punakha Dzong and drive back to Thimphu. Proceed to Paro. Overnight in Paro.
Hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. Afternoon visit Drukgyel Dzong. Explore other sights in Paro valley. Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, drive to the airport for your onward flight.
