The unfurling of the Thongdrol (a large tapestry) of Guru Rinpoche is the attraction of the festival there. It is believed that a mere sight of the Thongdrol liberates an onlooker and cleanses him of his sins. Punakha carries numerous historical events with Bhutan’s first capital or old capital of Bhutan. And also, it is the winter residence for the monk body which makes Punakha more especial and also Punakha Festival.

Itinerary
Upon arrival at the Paro Airport, your guide from Prayer Flags Tours will greet you and drive you to Thimphu. Enroute, Tamchog Monastery, a private monastery constructed by Thangthong Gyalpo. Explore Changangkha Lhakhang, a fortress-like temple, and the Takin Preserve center, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, Drive to Punakha, via Dochula Pass(3140m) for panoramic views and the Royal Botanical Park at Lam Pelri., Hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, known as the temple of fertility. Overnight in Punakha.
Morning attain festival at Punakha Dzong, a religious and administrative center. Overnight in Punakha.
Attain the Punakha festival in the morning and later drive to Phobjikha Valley. Explore Gangtey Monastery and nearby villages. Overnight in Phobjikha.
Hike the Gangtey Nature trail, Visit Cranes center. After lunch, drive to Paro. Overnight in Paro.
Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) and visit Kichu temple. Explore a traditional Farmhouse. Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, your guide and driver will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
