Itinerary
Arrive Paro – Thimphu, begin on an awe-inspiring mountain flight to Paro, where you’ll be welcomed by a representative from Prayer Flags Tours. Spend the afternoon exploring Paro, visiting the Ta Dzong Museum and Rimpong Dzong. Later, drive to Thimphu, the capital, and receive an orientation on Bhutanese etiquette before dinner at your Thimphu hotel.
Thimphu, a bustling capital, offers a full day of sightseeing. Explore the National Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Temple, and the Zilukha Nunnery. Discover the nursing pen for the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal, and, if time allows, visit Tashichhodzong. Overnight in Thimphu.
Drive through the picturesque Dochu-La pass, descending into Punakha valley. Visit Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness,” and take a walk to Chimi Lhakhang. Overnight in Punakha or Wangduephodrang.
Explore Wangduephodrang and visit Wangduephodrang Dzong. Drive to Phobjikha valley, known for black-necked cranes (November – March). Attend the Black-Necked Crane Festival, featuring cultural programs and stalls. Explore Gangtey Goempa and the beautiful Phobjikha Valley. Overnight in Phobjikha.
Continue exploring the festival and nature trails, immersing yourself in the scenic beauty and cultural richness of Phobjikha Valley. Overnight in Phobjikha.
Drive to Trongsa, crossing Pele La pass, and visit Chendebji Chorten. Explore Trongsa Dzong and the Ta Dzong museum. Continue to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland. Visit the Chummey weavers’ workshop. Overnight in Bumthang.
Explore Bumthang, visiting Jakar Dzong, Tamshing Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Jambay Lhakhang. Discover the historical and spiritual significance of Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.
Drive to Punakha, crossing Kiki La Pass & Yo-Tong La Pass. Visit Chendibji Chorten for lunch. Overnight in Punakha.
Hike to Khamsum Yueley Namgyal Chorten and explore Wangduephodrang Dzong. Drive back to Thimphu for handicraft and souvenir shopping. Proceed to Paro for the night.
Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery. Visit Drukgyel Dzong and other sights in the Paro valley. Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, drive to the airport for your onward flight, concluding your memorable journey in Bhutan.
