Dochula, 45 minutes ride from Thimphu, Bhutan, is a mountain pass that offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Situated at an elevation of 3,140 meters, Dochula is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
The main attraction of Dochula is the Dochula Pass, adorned with 108 chortens (stupas) that were built to commemorate Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives in a military conflict. These chortens, with their intricate carvings and colorful prayer flags, create a spiritual and serene ambiance.
From the pass, visitors can witness the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, including the renowned Gangkar Puensum, the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. The views are especially breathtaking on clear days when the mountains are bathed in golden sunlight.
