About one hour drive from Dagapela town and another one and half hours walk from road point, at Emerery School is an old calcium cave with remains of huge stalactites/stalagmites. The cave is huge about 150 feet wide and 30 feet high. Hindu locals worship as Shiva cave.
Maha Devi Dham is located in Gangjab of Gesarling Gewog. According to history, the sacred place was used to be cared by a Sadhu whom the villagers called Sadhu Bajay. It is believed that the Sadhu used to stay towards the west of the sacred place and he was a real devout of the place that he even planted oranges to offer to the cave. He would allow people to pluck the oranges to be offered to the Dham but not for consumption. It is believed that during the time of Sadhu Bajay, people from as far as Paro and Thimphu would come to visit the place. Inside the Ney, there is a space which can hold more than 1000 people underground. In the surface of the cave, there are two entries called the East and the West.
On the wall and the entrance of the Ney, there are lots of inscriptions and labels like murals, alphabet or paintings. However, these engrave and carvings are not ascertained of what they represent. The site is located about 5 minute walk from Gesarling secondary highway.
