Gedu is a small town in Chhukha district. Gedu is about two hour up hill drive from Phuentsholing. Originally developed to accommodate people working on the local hydroelectric plant, The economy of Gedu is growing quickly due to the Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority (THPA) the project which was started in the year 1998. It is also consider as the largest center of population between Phuentsholing and Thimphu highway. One of the college of the Royal University of Bhutan named Gedu College of Business Studies is located in Gedu.
