Mebar Tsho, also known as the Burning Lake, is a sacred site located in Bumthang, Bhutan. It holds deep religious and cultural significance in Bhutanese history and is a popular pilgrimage destination.
Legend has it that in the 15th century, the great Buddhist saint Pema Lingpa discovered sacred treasures hidden at the bottom of Mebar Tsho after diving into the lake with a burning lamp in his hand. This miraculous feat earned the lake its name, the Burning Lake.
Mebar Tsho is not only revered for its spiritual significance but also for its natural beauty. Surrounded by lush greenery and towering cliffs, the crystal-clear waters of the lake create a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

The annual Mebar Tsho Festival is also held here, featuring masked dances, rituals, and celebrations.
